Ethel & Bethel are a couple of old biddies who thrive on tea and bingo. Their fundraising and entertainment events transcend mere bingo. The comedy duo offer a delightful blend of adult entertainment with humour and spontaneous performances, infusing every occasion with laughter and a sense of community. For more than a decade, Ethel & Bethel have graced audiences across Aotearoa, promising to capture the very essence of old-school Kiwi hospitality.
About our Director...

I am the co-creator and Founding Director of Ethel & Bethel Bingo Babes Ltd®. The inception of Ethel & Bethel dates back to 2013 when a serendipitous moment led to their creation. As nurses working in the Nephrology Department at Christchurch Hospital, a colleague and I wished to raise funds to purchase an iPad or two for patients undergoing lengthy dialysis treatment. We were motivated by safety concerns post-earthquake, which rendered the removal of all televisions in patient spaces. Disguised as elderly ladies named Ethel & Bethel, we welcomed our colleagues, family and friends, and ran an evening of bingo, entertainment, and live auctions. The night went off! We were utterly overwhelmed with the support from those who attended and were thrilled to raise enough money to purchase three iPads, with a further one donated by a local kidney support group. These devices brought much-needed distraction and entertainment to our patients' lives.
Subsequently, Ethel & Bethel gained attention and before too long they were asked to host further fundraising and entertainment events all over the country. To date they have raised over 2.5 million dollars for various charitable causes and entertained tens of thousands of people, a feat that still astounds me! These days, I work closely with our event organisers, ensuring their festivities with Ethel & Bethel are a huge success, and the ladies arrive safe and well to a hot cup of tea.
Outside of Ethel & Bethel, I do a handful of hours for Kidney Health New Zealand as their Regional Educator, covering the South Island. I have a busy family of six, as well as an old black Labrador Mabel, and a young Golden Retriever called Moose. As a family we love to travel, experiencing different cultures and eat delicious food.
